I gotta point out two things with regards to PDP v Monson:

1) PDP aint gonna open up anything with strikes. He refuses to even train standup, and it drives the people he trains with absolutely nuts. PDP is a great ground fighter but his standup isnt bad, its non-existent.

2) PDP never beat Monson; PDP "tapped" to a non-existent can -opener at ADCC, instantly DQ'ing Monson, who flipped out and ran around naked, screaming for vengance and blood from what Im told.

The only advantages PDP has are height and reach, which do matter against someone built like Monson, but there is no reason at all to believe that Monson isnt going to brutalize PDP in ways we can scarcely imagine.

This sounds like an awesome story, do you have a link, or could you go into more detail?

To be specific, I'm not saying strikes from standup, i'm saying ground -> strikes on the ground -> choke.

Can't really respond either way to point #2, but I've likewise heard they hate each other.

Height and reach and superior ground skills in my opinion. Monson has the edge in strength and in punching power. If this line were Monson -120 it would be a different story in my opinion, but I think this fight is significantly closer than 2:1 underdog for Cruz.

Doh, sorry, misunderstood what you meant by opportunity created by strikes.

But more important than his MMA record, lets go back to that Abu Dhabi record - in 2003, when Cruz ran through an impressive field to win the Submission Wrestling World Championship, in the quarter finals Cruz faced a decorated MMA vetran by the name of.... Jeff Monson. And defeated him on his way to the title.

[/ QUOTE ]

Umm... Monson was disqualified, while in the process of brutalizing him.

Edit: I apologize, I now see that swope already said this.

Tito -300
Tito is the class here. Will take Forrest down repeatedly.

Tanner -325
Class is in session.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ortiz is grossly over rated. He hasn't beat anybody tough in a long time. I think Griffin is the favorite to win.

Tanner doesn't have the skills to be -325 against anybody.

I like Diaz at +148.

Im confused, who has Griffin beat? Like, ever?

Griffin has no takedown defense, Tito is essentially unsubbable. Tito is going to pin down Griffin with his hips and GNP to a predictable W.

And although I am not a Tanner fan, I think he is an excellent bet at -325 or even -500 in this fight. I would put money on him but my roll is on Monson.

He beat Monson...but yeah- this is his biggest fight yet- and I DO think he has a decent chance. Good striking and decent ground, solid chin, it won't be easy for Tito.
