In the DS, if you don't win first 2 games you lose home-field advantage which is huge in a 5-game series. Some people are talking that it's a big disadvantage to have 1,2,5 as opposed to another combo since most series don't go 5 games since you have to be 2-2 instead of 3-0, 0-3, 3-1, or 1-3, to obtain the actual 'advantage' of the extra game.

i think you're confusing this with basketball. home-field advantage is not that big a deal in baseball, unless you play in colorado.

Even if the home game gave you an edge---

For a 7 game series, the extra game won't help you unless you are 3-3.

In a DS you must be 2-2.

If a team 'steals' the home field, they must go the same
2-0 to retain it (and win the series in a 5 gamer).

It doesn't matter how you structure it, the team with the extra game has the 'edge' by getting an extra game at home, and that extra game is always the last one..
