the problem with parallels is that both OS are sharing the system resources though, so performance may lag. That is the trade off.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. There will be a performance hit under parallels compared to boot camp.
But the overhead of running under parallels is very slight......something
under 10% or so. A macbook with 2.16Ghz CoreDuo2 and 2GB Ram can
handle it with ease.

In my own experience, I can have mail, browser, and IM programs loaded on
OSX, and be 4 tabling PokerStars with PAHUD and PokerTracker, and my
total cpu utilization will be under 15% or so. I have no performance
problems, and the performance of all poker programs on the mac under
parallels far exceeds what I was experiencing with my older Dell Inspiron.

Can you spec that out Freak? I find it hard to believe Apples are twice as much as comparable Dells.

Woah, prices have definitely changed since I looked at MacBook Pros. I have a 2.13GHz Core2Duo with 2GB of ram, 100gb 7200RPM hdd, and geforce 7400. It's a dell w/ a 3 year warranty w/ accidental damage protection. It was around $2k, plus a little extra for the internal EVDO card I added later.

I didn't say it was twice as much, but the Mac was definitely more expensive when I looked at it.

I knew the price points of the Macs and 1000 cheaper is about half of the 15" line. What I was surprised about was when Macs started coming standard with 2G of memory.

I use a macbookpro, and have used bootcamp, crossover, and parallels. I find parallels the best, and easiest. Crossover works with pokerstars, but the sound isnt clear. Bootcamp sucks if you want to change between OS's. I can run Pokerstars, Pokertracker, UB, Mytable, and switch to OSX to change my itunes playlist and surf on firefox between hands. If you want to "try" out parallels or crossover, hit me with a pm.
