Default The dump eating paradox

You're taking your son or daughter out for a stroll when a man jumps out from behind the bushes and grabs your young kid, placing him in a neck hold. With one twist he could snap the childs neck and kill him. He says to you "yo, you gotta take a dump in your hands and eat it, or I snap this kids neck".

You notice you have a large, sharp flick knife in your pocket and are pretty confident you can take this guy. The question is, do you take a dump in your hands and then eat it, or do you think the guy is bluffing and attack?

Thoughts please.

Are you asking scientifically, philosophically or mathematically?

The guy has done something very strange. With no other information, we can't know if the next thing he does will be consistent with his words or with his strangeness. We must knife him.

Generally, if someone threatens you, it's theoretically sound to reraise at the first opportunity. Or if it isn't, it feels right anyway.

I would try to bargain him down to just drinking my urine, I am always well hydrated so that wouldn't be such a problem.

Am I to understand, godboy, that your answer would be different? How silly of me to even wonder!

All at once and perhaps, just maybe, none alltogether.

Maybe you and your child went back in time, and it's your crazy grandfather that is threatening your child?
