Default $25/50 trips facing river overbet....

no reads as such on villian except hes playing short and he has overvbet shoved river on board of 44263 after i limped in sb with a4, cc flop, donked turn and called mini raise (he was bb)...

the hand - im bb with j3os, villian limps utg (~2500), one other limper... flop jj9 2 spades, this time i lead for 100, he calls. Turn offsuit 10, i bet 250, he calls. River offsuit 2, i check and he shoves for 2k ish. I....?

wow, meh. hes capable of over bet shoving and u folded to it once. wish you had more info on his style. i mean without it I really find it hard to make a decision here.. it does seem like he can show up with more missed hands, trying to push u off a weak jack than he can show up with better hands. missed spades, an 810 or q10 type of hand.. id lean toward calling

That won't solve the problem, he's still got enough behind to come over the top of any normal bet.

i was happy enough checking to let him bluff at it, but the overbet really threw me given the board...

i understand that, but betting makes the decision eaiser. if u know hes capable of overbet shoving that spot (it is a bit suprising given the hand) if checked to, betting will help prevent absolute air from pushing u off the pot (hes much less likely to come over the top if u lead riv). but the more i think about it, checking and calling most bets is better, but like OP said it makes it a tough spot when he makes such a big overbet. otherwise its an easy check call.

anyways i really feel like he could show up with a monster some % of the time but still think theres a high bluffing frequency by him in that spot, esp. given he just recently overbet shoved
