[ QUOTE ] borodog, perhaps these un-cute puppies have failed in the marketplace of compassion? [/ QUOTE ] Nailed it. These lazy goldbrickers are receiving exactly what their market value dictates: The gas chamber. [/ QUOTE ] Lol. It looks to me like the state doesn't do them too much good. In fact, the state runs the gas chambers. Standard. |

Uh oh- better start saving for corrective eye surgery, or the other dogs will tease her when she's 2. Of course, if she's a guard puppy, then she's a genetic advance. |

[/ QUOTE ] FYP [/ QUOTE ] lol I just got a puppy too, black lab/aussie mix. She's about 11 weeks and still [censored] etc everywhere -- definitely get a crate for crate training. Though, according to a family friend who trains and breeds dogs, right around 12 weeks is when a puppy starts to realize that they can actually hold on to their piss and [censored] and don't have to immediately drop it. |

Re: I has a New Puppy!

Well Shes is a great dog when shes not biting me, pissing on the floor/rug or eating her own [censored]. [/ QUOTE ] My gf has a new puppy around her place. It's very cool, but always tries to gnaw on me. Is this totally standard, and if so, what happens when she develops her bite? Am I gonna lose some flesh when she is playing with me, or do I need to give her a soft smack like when she comes inside the house so she knows its bad? |

Re: I has a New Puppy!
Don't let her bite you? When our dog was a puppy, if he bit us, we'd clamp a hand down on his muzzle (obv without the body part in his mouth!). I've heard that dogs do this to the younger dogs to put them in their place. At least that explains the scar near my nose from a dog bite when I was 3.

[/ QUOTE ] Nah, this one is really small and seems like it's just following instinct learning how to bite in case it is needed as it is for dogs in the wild. It's too small to hurt but seems to be borderline and it would be better if she could know not to bite too hard when playing. |
