Are there any valid reasons not to have a mod dump forum?

Thank you,

I can see at least two valid reasons for this new forum. One, often an interesting post will contain personal data (email, phone number, etc.) or inappropriate data or links but still merits discussion. By the time you edit the information a few responses have copied the data that needs editing. Having a dump forum would allow a place to clean up the data without having many more responses to clean up.

The second reason for this forum would be to move suspendable posts without cluttering up the current mod forum. Say a poster has been banned for a racist post. The user complains to Mat or Ryan. The user notes only say 'banned 3 days for a racist post'. What was in the post? It comes down to the mod word against the posters word. Who do we believe? The mod is looking over thousands of posts and users. The user 'should know' what he has posted. We would like to believe the mod but........ It would be great to have the post saved somewhere to fall back on for reference.

That being said there should be no harm in having this new forum. Those who want the new forum can utilize it. Those who don't want it will never have to venture into that new forum. JMHO

Thank you,

Jim Kuhn

This would allow documentation on when/why posters have violated the rules

This could easily be incorporated into this suggested feature.

There won't be a need for a mod dump in vB because most everything will be soft deletions, meaning that posts vanish for everyone except those of us with the ability to see deletion notices and can be restored.

I still think the mod forum works fine for this otherwise.

I still think the mod forum works fine as a dump in the meantime.

hi ryan,

please address this reason for having a mod dump.

[ QUOTE ]

the point is:

1) to have a temporary place to put things for editing out certain portions of them

thanks!
