Going out alone tonight...tips??

i just relocated to a new city and know absolutely no one here. last weekend was my first weekend in town and i was busy getting my place set up so i decided not to go out. i've made a couple of acquaintances at work but they're not the type of guys who would be interested in hitting on girls, so i'm going it alone. i'm concerned about not having any wings for this expedition but i figure worstcase i got cockblocked at least i tried. anyone have any tips so i don't look like the creepy loner guy or get too bored?

I moved to the DC area about a year ago. I'm even launching a DC bar and restaurant review site ( http://www.dc4me.com ) - still ugly, but uses google maps to show you where bars/metros are.

Shoot me a PM - I'm setting up some bar crawls and can show you around.

Nothing wrong with going to a local place. Sitting at the bar to eat dinner, drink a few beers and watch the game is not that uncommon

Aside from contacting some of the posters who live in DC. I find that going to smaller bars or coffee houses is alot easier to start conversations while by yourself then a night club or loud bar. People who are in a local bar or coffee shop tend to be more open to conversations with strangers, maybe anyway.
