Well I am french actually, have never played in germany but I assume the game are very much alike, as the "poker culture" in both countries is about the same.

In that kind of game you probably have to play differently from how you play NL400 online. Dont try to induce a bluff, to try to represent big hand. Just focus on getting paid by top pair when you can beat top pair. If you have like 9T and flop AT9 you should be all in by the turn, you will be paid by any ace.

Dont try to resteal preflop. Slowplaying in that kind of games is not too good either, they wont bluff but will call a lot, making slowplaying less valuable.

About body language I am sure you are fine, dont worry. If you really think you give away too much then whenever you are gonna act, take your time and act in the same motion. When you flop something dont insta react, just breath and take your time.

If you are tricky enough you could also act fast after seeing the flop and bet quickly if you have been seen doing it with strong hand or if people interpret it that way.

But you dont even need to.

You just told yourself.

I doubt it was body tells as much as betting patterns. If you slow played a monster and showed it down with no betting (i.e., acting like you were hoping for somebody else to bet your hand) then everybody might - give you more action when you bet quickly - and - let you get some free cards when you have overcards/gut shot type draws.

I'm sorry, but two statements in the first two sentences of the OP's post made me convulse in laughter.

I am sure on a technical level most online players feel this way the first time they enter a B+M casino, I did.

At which Casino did you play?

I started to take a shot shortstacking at 2/4 offline(in germany) this weekend too.

To my amazement the standard of play was [censored] poor.

Although I managed to blow my first 2 BI(150).

First one was KK vs. 99+9 pf AI (donk says: I put u on AK...lol flipper)

Second one was AQs vs. 106o.
donk straddles, I reraise 5BB, He calls. Flop 2 8 6, He donks 50, I shove, he nearly instacalls.

Am I a tellbox?

I left gutted, but at the same time I was sure that I could beat these guys.

Next evening I took my chance, playing really taggish and got paid off several times, biggest pot was about 600€ with a flopped flush and a donk going for a 7 outer.

So far I finished all the other sessions with decent win.

I would compare the standard of play eventually to NL10 or NL25(no joke).

Jeez, even one or two players sat down who never played poker before (Yes, on a NL 400 table) and got [censored].
Also some loooose player donated about 2-6 BI on one evening.

My advice: Try to act slower, esp. slow play your mosters. YouŽll always get caller... If you play more youŽre def getting calmer and better, showing no tells.

On these stakes competent online-players got such a huuuuge edge.

The strategy I've been toying around with is to splash alot more than I 'should' in small pots to give the appearance of action - I just want to break even in those pots, maybe make a few bucks.

However, when the big money goes in, I'm trying to be the dominant favorite. The small pots I play with bad hands create a slight illusion.

Any observant player will see through this, but I can live with that.

Yeah. I play LAGGish for small pots on non-dangerous boards. You can pick up alot of little pots this way, and it gives a false impression.

youre right of course but i was looking for ways to keep being able to act in a normal way, maybe even different all the time, but getting control over my subconcious behavior and not acting in a predictable way.
im going to check out the book someone recommended.

if i would have sit down in a live nl400 game in lv or maybe even in one of the bigger clubs in the UK im pretty sure that there would have been a few guys that were on my level if not above. but i doubt you can imagine how awesomely bad the level of play is here.

thanks for all the other answers too
