I would bet the flop. You protect your hand against Kx type hands and if he calls you have outs + backdoor draws to improve. I think you like never get c/r'ed here from this type of opponent.

I find at the early levels I get c/ced or c/red a decent amount in this type of situation, my standard would be to check behind then bet most turns if checked to, you pick up such a great turn draw though if he is ahead I just check again, and I'd fire that river if checked to cause he almost never has a better hand.

I fold pf though definitely.

Well we're not value betting 3rd pair no kicker are we? No hand is calling that we are a favorite against, we have a lot of things we can pick up on the turn and people arent checking twice with a good hand very often, imo delayed cbet is better.

no, but the point im trying to make is that a better hand is will probably c/r and a worse one probably wont bluff c/r, so cbetting the flop is probably the optimal play

I'd c-bet this flop all day.

It's not about getting better hands to fold it's about not giving KTo it's 25% to beat us for free.

If he calls our flop, we'll at least we have position and can probably check behind the turn and fold the river to a bet unimproved.

PF - this is one of those spots where the chips you're putting at risk are worth more per chip than those you'd gain in a 50/30/20 payout, probably best to just let it go even if playing your hand with position here is +cev. Being double the stack of shorty is not something you want to throw away lightly, it's huge as far as being able to call his pushes into you at the 40/80 or 50/100 level (you can lose and still have a playable stack to come back). Once that gap erodes, even some clearly +cev calls may become -$EV, whereas if you had a double gap on shorty, those calls would still be +$EV (SNGPT, blah, blah, etc.).

What gramps said. That gap over shorty is huge. No way I am raising this from the button, especially after I have been active.
