Re: Non-Sport/Bar Sports - Decathlon
[ QUOTE ]
Are you confusing clubs(dance) with bars? [/ QUOTE ] Are you serious? The shuffleboard thing Quids explained, I've seen and played that. But I have never seen table tennis, skeeball, bowling, horse shoes, or airhockey at a bar. I grew up on the East Coast and went to plenty of bars in NYC and New Haven. Are you perhaps confusing bars with Dave & Buster's? -Al |

Re: Non-Sport/Bar Sports - Decathlon
Good list. These Beer Olympics competitions are hella fun, man. I would sub out bowling for Golden Tee. Even though it's a video game, it's more of a sport. I know a dude who broke his thumb playing it, so it counts, even though he was Canadian.
The best way to make them competitive is continuous handicapping with alcohol as a function of the events. Shots are best for this. BTW: Horseshoes must remain and it should be held last, kind of like the old Eliminator event from American Gladiators. |

Are you confusing clubs(dance) with bars? I am from old-school-like East Coast style bars but we would go to certain joints that had such things, all the things above (except maybe bowling). All American Legion/VFW/Eagle like bars have such things are well. [/ QUOTE ] any decent bowling alley is more of a bar than a place to go bowling anyway. |

Re: Non-Sport/Bar Sports - Decathlon
Stinkypete - I agree, but that's actually referred to as a "bowling alley", not a "bar".
OP - seriously this is a real head scratcher for me: [ QUOTE ] I am from old-school-like East Coast style bars but we would go to certain joints that had such things, all the things above (except maybe bowling). [/ QUOTE ] Granted, I haven't spent much time in Boston (where I assume you're from), but "old-school-like East Coast style bars" generally don't have ping pong tables, in my experience. [ QUOTE ] All American Legion/VFW/Eagle like bars have such things are well. [/ QUOTE ] These are not bars. -Al |

Re: Non-Sport/Bar Sports - Decathlon
Al: I've been to a few bars w/ horseshoes. And plenty of bars w/ air hockey. Never seen skeeball or bowling. I've seen table tennis at pool hall + arcade type places, but never at a normal bar.
quids: Good one, I was thinking of that too but didn't suggest it because I don't really like that game. Joe: Bocce ball probably deserves to be on there ahead of some of the other picks. |

Re: Non-Sport/Bar Sports - Decathlon
Diablo - the only games I've seen at a standard bar are darts, pool and maybe foosball. I classify "sports bars" differently in my head, but yeah def. air hockey or bubble hockey I've seen alot.
However, I don't actually think OP's criteria is "games you find in a bar". Seems like he made a snide response to me which ends up making zero sense. -Al |

Is bowling too much of a sport? [/ QUOTE ] This is my favorite part. The fact that you have to ask this means your decathlon is going to be awesome. |

Ping Pong (table tennis) is at all of the Fox and Hounds in Omaha. It certainly qualifies.
