Some of the ones at 30-40-1 are tricky just b/c if they're playing they're possibly +EV to do so but they don't always play tourns (even the ME) these days.

this post raises a good point.

first, the odds are not going to change based on action, so there's no reason we can't work together on this.

second, i think we should come up with a list of names we can comfortably cross off.

here is my cross off list. others should add to it.

hal fowler (done died)
amarillo preston (too old, may not play. if he does, he will not last)
doyle brunson (imo, he might hit #11 this year, but the ME is way too long for him. he makes mistakes in long events)

do you really think doyle can go deep in the ME?

i'm trying to get a whittled down list, and can't decide whether to scratch him or not.

i guess i should start with the wikipedia page on all the ones i am less familiar with. seems the wikipedia poker references are always very accurate.

Doyle is dangerous, he's probably going to play agressive loose, go out early or build some chips. If he gets lucky and builds a deep stack he will gain a lot of interest and will be a threat for the final table.

Even with 5 players not playing I only see Harrington as a +EV bet barely.
