Default Limping in early position in a 9 handed cash game

Is it ever appropriate to limp in a cash game from an early positon hoping to see a cheap flop with marginal hands?

Heres a few hands, would you limp, fold or raise, in early position of a 9 handed game?

A10s
A10o
KJs
K10o
QKs
88
55
AQo
78s
10Js

Are all of these instant folds in a cash game?

It really comes down to the players at the game..............if the table seldom sees a raise, go for it.

So this is why people say you should spend a few orbits getting the feel of the table and the players..... then act accordingly.

Helpful, thanks.

Like the other posters said, it really depends on the table environment and reads you have on various players. I play limit, so I'm not sure if NLHE would change the circumstances, you always have to worry about the limp reraise a lot more in NL. Specifically, I would worry most about the hand ranges and styles of the button, SB, and BB. A lot of those hands I would raise with EP, MP, or LP...and rarely in the blinds if everyone's limped in.

If no one raises PF, and many see the flop -> Why not limp with every suited Ace ?

As mentioned, it really depends on the table, stack sizes, etc. Definitely helps to watch a few orbits or play tight at first until you figure out how the table is playing.

I try to have a plan for these type of hands as to whether I call a raise. Who is the raiser, what will I do if XXX hits the board, etc.

I usually fold or raise in early position but as has been said, it depends a lot on the table. If there is an aggresive player in late position i may limp and the re-raise when he raises with high cards and pocket pairs but it depends on the situation.

I never open limp any cards. It is just how I play.
