Default Moving stuff cheaply

So it looks like U-haul would cost about a grand to rent a truck from. I'm hoping there's a cheaper way to get some stuff (clothes, computer, couch, bed, tv) part way cross country...

Is there some knowledge out there in OOT for me? Thanks guys.

Edit: I have to drive my car there anyways to move that, so if there's a way to take car of the big stuff, I can try and get the rest.

Might wanna look into sending any books, dvd's, and some other stuff via media mail. I had a super ginormous/heavy box shipped for $20.
