God I love Ireland. And links golf.
Can you tell us a little about the difficulty of the par-5s that measure from 438 to 486? |

This is a public course, and my wife at many different courses, but we're in the associate club at Cinnabar Hills in South San Jose.

Caledonia Golf and Fish Club
It's not my home course but i think it's my favorite course I have ever played. It's in Myrtle Beach, S.C. You should really check it out if you get the chance. |

[/ QUOTE ] Those measurement are in meters, not yards, so they are about 10% longer than you think. All the par 5s are pretty easy if wind conditions are benign. However, the west coast of Ireland is usually pretty windy. So, each par 5 can be a driver-mid iron or driver-wood-wood, depending on the wind. |

I seem to remember the measurements in yardages when I played in Ireland. Lahinch, Ballybunion, Tralee, etc. Is my memory that bad? |

Forest Preserve National . Now known as George W. Dunne. Used to be first come first serve same day only tee times so in high school we'd lineup on the shoulder of the road outside the course along with other cars starting at like 2am on weekends, nap for a few hours and then we'd get 6am and 10am tee times. [/ QUOTE ] Not to mention the fact the Oak Forrest police used to come by and occasionally ticket the people lined up in the "no parking zone" I used to play there in the summers, I m originally from there but family still lives in area, it was waaaay better before the name change, later management change, etc. tobdog |

Re: Post a link to your home course here
crosse,
sorry I didn't respond to your question sooner, I just got back to that thread. I really like Great Hills--I'd put it in the second "tier" of clubs in town. Not as good as Barton Creek, Austin Country Club, etc.--but on par with Onion Creek. It's also a lot more affordable than the other clubs and is about 5 minutes from my house. It has a few goofy holes, but it really tests your entire bag--you really need to work the ball both directions. Very fun course, and usually in good shape. |
