suzzer was this before or after the poker boom that you first went to Asia? if before what did you do on your extended stays for employment or was it always just holidaying?
great story anyway I re-read it now even better second time through.

It was August 2000, and then again in Oct. 2000. I was working at home the first time with a flexible schedule. 2nd time I had just gotten my job in LA and was going to start work right after I got back. So basically I had to fly from Bangkok to SF, buy a ticket to KC for my friend's funeral and fly there w/o going home, then fly back to SF on Sun. Grab my car, which was already loaded. Drive as far as I could and get a motel. Get up early, drive to LA Monday morning and start work at a new job. Oh yeah, apparently my friends and I like to grieve with multiple 8-balls. Very fresh for work at a new programming job on Monday.

I generally lock threads when the responses are just stuff like "wow" or "sweet thread" or whatever, but wow. I am gonna keep this open and hope you just keep posting lots more stories of your exploits. Wow.
