I can take it whenever I want, really for however I want, just as long as I get my work done. I usually go for an hour, though, most of it spent BSing with coworkers after we've finished eating.

Do people consider their lunch break paid or unpaid - i.e. do you count it as hours worked that day? I have had 3 different officetype corporate jobs, and it was never really spelled out how lunches "worked". I think most would consider it unpaid, but if you think of the standard "9-5" job, is that no lunch, or a 7 hour day?

FTR, I leave the office for about 1.5-2 hours per day.

she doesn't call it "lunch break", but rather, "after dinner snack"...

...but either way, it's about 10 1/2 inches.

My "hour" is actually thirty minutes, but I also get two fifteen minute breaks if I am working a full eight hours. The two fifteen minute breaks cannot be combined with each other or the lunch "hour."

Thinly veiled brag post, but I'm curious as to how long your lunch break is.

I believe the standard is one hour? But that some people work through lunch, some people eat at their desks?

Do white collar and blue collar jobs have different lunch lengths? I heard somewhere it's half hour for some people.

When does your lunch start? 1PM? 12:30PM?

My lunch is from 12:30PM to 2:30PM. It is a decent lunch hour.

Do Americans eat sandwiches for lunch every day?

I work in a steel mill. Typically we get two 45 minute break during our shift. I usually bring a lunch but we often get food from the vendors of the materials we use in the furnace.
