Default Many people go from low stakes to high stakes inside 1-3 years?

Hi

I wanted to start a thread about moving from low stakes to high stakes if you have any thing to contubute about this concept and goal please post.

I have read of one player on the two plus two who managed to go from low stakes to high stakes, he balanced great knowledge with an agressive bankroll management plan, 17xbuy in, couple that with a prompt downward movement to lower stakes and he was golden inside of year.

This just is not the norm for %99 of people who play poker and I would say that at least 5% of the people who play really give it a darn good go with software and constant reviewing of their game.

To be playing 1/2 in Jan and 200/400 (1000/2000) by the following Jan is what every player dreams of and it is possible it would seem.

Please all comments about no limit hold'em and book recommendations appericated, I am currently reading through seven books, my current book is professional no limit vol 1.

1. Playing a lot of hands.
2. Studying the game.
3. Taking it seriously.
4. Balanced lifestyle.
5. Self Control

Most players miss one or more of the above despite being good players.

stop reading the books and start putting in tons of hands, spend every waking hour thinking about poker strategy and every sleeping hour dreaming up nonsensical poker situations in a repeating pattern which will drive you insane as the cards flit frustratingly around your mind, learn to piss in a bottle and develop the ability to microwave ready meals without timing out on 19 tables while you dash from kitchen to pc, lose contact with all your acquaintances as you rack up massive amounts of dough while cockslapping any concept of a regular circadian rhythm and play while drunk a handful of times each month so you can take high stakes shots without fear...

Many people? Haven't only like 9 people done this.

Also you won't, you're not good or lucky enough. Just quit now and be happy.

For me 1) and 4) are issues. Can't really play that many hands because I do have to work and I haven't hit balla-stakes yet, as well as being in college still and having a family. #4 is more related to the fact that I already play a precarious balancing act with the rest of my life. Some weeks, poker must be a side-menu item.\

Still yet, I don't actually hold out any hope of being able to do this. I hope to eventually be good enough to beat $200nl, and that is it. I am half-way to my goal and that is more or less fine by me.

If a million monkeys, write on a million typewriters eventually one of them writes something decent.

Similary for donkament pros, if a million people keep flipping $1 eventually someone has a $1,000,000.

The people who get to the top fast are probably better than most others, but it needs a hell of a lot of luck imo.
