I found Jim's character to be really annoying in this episode, but I can't quite put my finger on why.

[/ QUOTE ]
probably because he wussed out at every turn. i can't imagine putting up with any of the [censored] michael and dwight did for a second. i would have sold them the [censored] out for sure. and i would have been pissed off.

everything else was really good, but i found myself shockingly angry for jim.

edit: Reading through the thread I see people like Jim's character in these scenes? WTF? I mean, the entire plot was not only a complete violation of his personal life but dangerous lunacy! And he kind of raises his voice? And that's enough for you?

second edit: i guess it shouldn't surprise me that other people are slower to anger than i am.

Why does Michael hate Toby so much? I can't think of an incident that would cause Michael to hate Toby in every way.

[/ QUOTE ]

Seriously? Toby is the rules guy and has shot down a lot of Michael's crazy ideas and is seen as a killjoy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I think it starts in the casino night episode. Michael wants to have fireeaters or something and boyscouts and Toby won't let him. Then it becomes a running joke.

[/ QUOTE ]
It starts in, like, the first episode. "Toby's from corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. And he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family."

how did that andy scene get cut off. imo best part of the episode.

[/ QUOTE ]
i think that was the only time we saw meredith or angela

also, the joke at the end of it was kind of a cheap throwaway-- i mean, if andy's parents are rich enough to donate buildings to ivy league schools, why the [censored] is he a salesman at a mid-range paper company in a mid-range town?

Pretty sure the Toby vs. Michael thing doesn't stem from any actual event. Michael hates Toby because Toby doesn't report to Michael; Toby reports to corporate. So since Michael can't be the boss of Toby, he hates him. Pretty simple and consistent with a Michaelism.

I know they didn't run them last week, but did everyone else find those Bee Movie promos really annoying.

But that's pretty much Jim in a nutshell. We liked how it was done because it was done perfectly, not because we think he acted correctly.

My take is that Toby, as the HR manager, is always telling Michael he can't do all of the sexists/racist/ignorant stuff he's always doing. Michael resents that and is taking it out on Toby every way he can.
