i dont want to see people that are virgins come on this show, because them being a virgin shows that they truly dont love women, otherwise they would have grown some [censored] balls years ago.

I understand where this attitude comes from. In most areas of life, if you're bad at something, but really passionate about it, you'll force yourself to become better. I think picking up women is one area where it can be a lot harder. If you suck at golf, you go out and practice, and maybe get a teacher. If you're terrified of women, and have lots of self image problems, it isn't that simple. Your friends tell you that you just need to go out and try, so you do, get rejected, and feel terrible. This happens a few times and you just stop trying. Instead of working on your underlying issues, and learning some technique to get you bye in the meantime, you lose hope and give up.

Saying these guys don't love women is unfair. They haven't been given the chance to, and society hasn't made the options for improvement that obvious. The advice you get in the mainstream is generally bad, and pickup artists are looked down upon. Learning pickup is considered pathetic by a lot of people. There's very little support for guys who can't talk to women outside of the community. You get some decent advice(improve grooming, buy some better clothes, actually TALK to women), but don't get the necessary technique/mental improvement to go with it.

If you want to watch good looking, sociable guys pick up women, try keys to the vip. Some of them have pretty sick game too. Then again, some of them have terrible game, but are really good looking and confident, and it gets them bye. Personally, I prefer watching guys grow from nothing. It's sappy, and it's painful, and it's feel good.

I think the shows done a great job of showing how hard it is for some of these guys to change. The makeover challenge showed a lot. It's easy to wear crazy clothes, or paint your nails, get your hair dyed, and your ears pierced. It's hard to push past your fear, and keep it together, when you haven't spent the time in your life to desensitize yourself.

Keep it mind - I thnk its way harder to approach women in bars as opposed to frat partys at a university. 18-19 year-old girls are easier to deal with than 21-25 year old girls. These guys got put in a very tough spot where the really know no one. They are the worst pick-up artists and there being put in some very tough scenarios. The crash and burn and difficulty dealing with it is to be expected.

I have good info from a friend who works at VH1...the show is def staged, the "club" scenes are not authentic and are filled with movie extras.

in addition, *DELETED* wins

Why would you not put in a spoiler alert? You can still read the white text without highlighting it. The white does no good.

Thanks for ruining the ending =( I hope you are wrong.

DYD = David DeAngelo's "Double Your Dating"?

I got one of his e-books (Attraction Isn't A Choice) a while ago, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Would you recommend it?

I don't think I've read that specific e-book, but I've been very satisfied with all of his products so far. I'm good friends IRL with someone that does marketing for DYD, so i get a lot of the more expensive products for free, and they are all pretty awesome.

18-19 yr old college girls are lot less frigid and uninhibited than 21-25 yr old college grad hags...they loosen up again once they hit 30 or so I figure.

Watching these shows kind of makes me reflect on my life. I was shy and awkward around women, extremely so in high school. I improved in college a little bit to get laid here and there, and I'm married now, so picking up women is irrelevant. But it kind of pains me to know that there were all these methodical ways of actually studying and working on this aspect of your life that I was never exposed to.

It almost makes me mad at my dad. He was sky and geeky too, and the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. But that line of thought leads somewhere.... I'm thinking when my sons get to be a certain age (what age?!), I'm going to send them to some of these seminars or buy the appropriate reading materials, so they don't have to have the same crappy experience I had. Am I deranged?

ddubois,

No. But I definitely wouldn't show they source material. You're going to have to filter it down to the basics of confidence and feeling comfortable interactions with *everyone*. If your kid can do this, he won't need any community "technology" or whatever.
