Stud high - rolled Fives multiway
I'm posting this hand more to assess my thought process rather than the specifics in this particular instance.
My plan from the beginning was to not raise until 5th, unless one or more boards got scary. Or if checked to me on 4th I would bet to ensure at least one bet goes in. Since the bettor and Seat 8 both caught good cards, I decided to raise in order to try and at least get rid of Seat 8 in case he's on a FD. If the pot is 4-handed on 4th almost regardless of what their boards are, would it be correct to slowplay it until 5th? Or am I generally better off raising earlier for value and/or thin the field? 7 Card Stud High ($1/$2), Ante $0.20, Bring-In $0.25 (converter) 3rd Street - (1.40 SB) Seat 2: xx xx K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___calls Hero: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___brings-in___calls Seat 4: xx xx J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___folds Seat 5: xx xx 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___folds Seat 6: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls___calls Seat 7: xx xx Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___folds Seat 8: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___completes 4th Street - (5.40 SB) Seat 2: xx xx K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls___calls Hero: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___raises Seat 6: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls Seat 8: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___bets___calls 5th Street - (6.70 BB) Seat 2: xx xx K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___folds Hero: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___bets Seat 6: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___calls Seat 8: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls 6th Street - (9.70 BB) Hero: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___bets___raises___calls Seat 6: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___checks___raises___raises Seat 8: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___checks___calls___folds River - (19.70 BB) Hero: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___raises Seat 6: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] xx___bets___calls Total pot: (23.70 BB - $47.40) |

Re: Stud high - rolled Fives multiway
No one is folding a flush draw on fourth street. Would you? I'm fine with waiting until fifth to pop it, and I think that changing your game-plan on fourth is fine too. They've caught good cards, so they're more likely to give you action. Hard to argue with the results, anyway.

[/ QUOTE ] If it's the type of game where a king is going to flat call an Ace's 3rd st raise then I like repopping 3rd and hammering away - trying to build a monster pot. I think that in the long-term, in the loose lower stakes games, significantly more chips are won playing these fast from the get-go. |

Re: Stud high - rolled Fives multiway
At 1/2, I'd step on the gas on 3rd & not let off until I'm stacking their chips 'cause ain't nobody with any resemblence of a playable hand gonna fold.
FWIW, I never slowplay a small rolled hand at this level unless it is a real nitfest. |

Re: Stud high - rolled Fives multiway
At this level, I generally like taking the lead with small rolled up hands because my goal is to get three bets in on fifth or sixth when someone makes two pair.
