Default Hand from Viejas

Quoted from my friend's blog

i'm playing at viejas at 1/3 nl. i am in the big blind with K7d. UTG is a maniac and, as he does every round, puts in a live straddle. 3 calls before me, i call. flop is Ad 3d 7h. i check, hoping to put in a check-raise. UTG dutifully bets 15 dollars and everyone folds. i raise to 35 and he instantly calls. the turn is the Kc.

1) should i check or lead out?
2) having checked, UTG grabs a stack of chips and splashes
them into the pot. he bet 55. what's my play?
3) would you lead the flop ? 3 bet? call?

1) lead out
2) raise
3) i prefer leading, b/3b is pretty spewy, c/r isn't bad

1) You absolutely have to bet out the turn, and push over a raise. Two-pair + NFD is a ton of equity against literally anything, and we need to get as much money in the pot as possible.

2) Having checked, your friend need to drop his pants, check himself, and ask why he's apparently hung like a field mouse. Then check-raise, probably all in, because we still need to get as much money into the pot as possible.

3) Leading vs. checking the flop is actually a pretty good question. With a pair and a NFD, we need to get a lot of money into the pot. If UTG is a maniac, he might raise a lead bet, which would squeeze out everybody left to act behind him. Checking, letting UTG bet, and hoping for a few calls is ideal, because then we can checkraise with a ton of pot equity and apply pressure to the passive people.

So check/raise flop, but it didn't work out this time because the other limpers weren't team players for our pot.

Raise flop to 45 or 50, your 35 is practically a min raise and isn't folding his A-trash type hands. I would be super happy to get it all in on the turn vs this type of player. Your play is confusing villain... who raises to the flop then checks a benign turn? Lead the turn, as played there is ~90 in the pot, so lead the turn for 75, expect to get called and shove any non A river.

we need to know effective stacks. I lead out here on the flop a lot but since he's a maniac checking to trap dead mony in the pot is fine. Make your c/r more though like $50. On the turn just lead out like 2/3 pto and get the money in
