Facing big turn bet with AA
No real reads on opponent and I just want to know if it's possible at all to get off of this hand right here. All comments appreciated. The check-raise on the turn is a bit worrisome, but also confusing. Is it a set, is it a big draw? I wish I could give you guys more info about the opponent, but this is the first hand at this table (a full ring that has broken for the moment)

Re: Facing big turn bet with AA
Hands within a rando villian's range:
8d9d 77, TT KdJd AdKd AdJd KTs I think AJ is the least likely holding here, as I don't see him overbet pushing the nuts here. Text results appended to pokerstove.txt 2,640 games 0.032 secs 82,500 games/sec Board: Td 7d Kc Qc Dead: equity (%) win (%) tie (%) Hand 1: 76.0227 % 75.68% 00.34% { TT, 77, AdKd, AdJd, KdJd, KTs } Hand 2: 23.9773 % 23.64% 00.34% { AA } Hero Folds What single pair hand is he doing this with? I may be a nit but I don't see him playing this hand this way with many holdings you beat |

Re: Facing big turn bet with AA
I think you're beat enough to fold here, even with a read here, I might still lay this down. Given no reads, it's a pukey laydown, but I'm folding here.

Re: Facing big turn bet with AA
I'd call the turn and expect to be ahead of his draws enough to counter the times he has a set/2pair.
Rough spot all the same. |

Re: Facing big turn bet with AA
This is what I figured. I just wanted to see a bit of reasoning for the fold.
I was actually a bit deceptive with this post, because I actually manipulated the hand history to show my opponent's cards because I wanted a view from his seat. In reality I held 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and the player with aces called my bet on the turn. I just wanted to see if anyone else would have been able to get away from the hand as sick as it is to fold. I knew he'd bet on the flop which is why I checked it to him despite the drawy board, and when called my raise, I had a feeling he was on a hand he wasn't going to laydown, hence the shove on the turn. Obviously. in reality, there's nothing he could have done to push me off of my hand. But when I figured out he had aces, I was surprised he didn't fold the turn after a CR on the flop and a huge turn bet. I'm always curious about people's reasoning for folding aces which is a hard thing to do for a lot of players at this level. Thanks for the input. |
