I like betting the turn b/c a lot of opponents will only call that river bet so you need to build a bigger pot (so you can go allin and get calls on the river).

Also you're allowing a "free" spade by checking....might as well make him pay as you gotta try to get all of your chips in here no matter what the river is.

(also a spade on the river might freeze him so get more chips in earlier)

Pot isn't going to build itself. When you flop a good hand your main goal is to build a pot so you can make bigger bets on later streets.

You don't have to bet a lot on the turn (i.e. you don't need to pot it) but you should bet so you can stack him on the river.

I agree with everyone else in the fact that checking the turn was silly. If you want to get creative give yourself a reason to be creative. Why exactly are you checking the turn? You bet and he called. You bet into 4 players as a bluff? Even most 11 players wouldn't believe that. So checking the turn makes no sense except for the fact that it look likes you are trying to trap your oppenents. Value bet and build a big pot.
