I really didnt ask this at any stage.

I never said I though we were always ahead on the flop, and although i said we will always be ahead when he folds when in reality he will fold some hands we beat I think if the number of hands he folds when hes ahead is small enough its still worth considering the fact that we dont gain that much by folding out the hands we are ahead of.

"Dont gain that much by folding out the hands we are ahead of?"

This is relative to what? What do you gain by checking behind the hands we are ahead of?

call, check behind on river, call anything he bets on river if a non-club hits.

No I dont think we gain more by checking when ahead than betting and him folding, but I think we lose a lot more by betting when he is ahead of us than by checking*, which isnt that unlikely imo.

If we lost more by betting into hands were behind than we gained from folding out hands with a few outs then betting wouldnt look so good - this is what I was really getting at.

*the exception being when we bluff him out on the turn, which will be harder if we check the flop and a club doesnt hit.

I think the best line is to continuation bet the flop and then check behind once we hit top pair on the turn. Call a river bet from him.

I need more convincing as to why checking this turn is good with TPTK against a guy who likes to chase a lot of draws and hates to fold mediocre made hands.

I hope we are not all taking results orientated lines cause of the check-raise!
