Default 10 handed tables?

I recently read on another poker site that Bellagio's NL games are 10 handed. Is this correct? I am a 6max on-line player and already not a huge fan of playing 9 handed. I have never played 10 handed. I'm I worried about nothing?

10 handed is standard live in any place I've played....from your perspective its going to be the same thing as 9.

Some places Ive been said if they had a dealer sitting with a dead spread and a list of interest for 6 max they would consider it if ALL full ring tables are 8-10 people full. It never hurts to ask but if I were you I wouldnt hold my breath.

Another option is to just ask for the table with the least people and if it fills up and you arent comfortable ask for a transfer.

Nine is standard in the Los Angeles County clubs. They go one short of the standard most other places in order to provide adequate room for food tables.

Personally can't see B&Ms ever making 6-max available for all but the nosebleed limits.

Yeah we only have 1/2NL with $100 buy in and there are a lot of casinos in my area so they try to please the guests. I have had 3 "lists of interests" started and never had a table open but they were trying.

3 10-handed tables full. 8 names on the list
1 6-max table full. 0 names on the list

No empty tables.

What would you do as a poker room manager?

It comes down to money. If you are willing to sit at a 6-max table that drops the same total amount of rake that the 10-max does, fine. But you are not.

I understand this.

That is what they told me. "If all the other tables are full (no waiting list) and we have a dealer and people that want to play 6 max we will do it."

The diff between 9 and 10 handed ain't huge. Nice thing about 9-handed is it often will drop to 7 or even 6 handed as people file out for dinner and such, and folks rarely start screaming "bring us players" or "can we break the game" if you're only down 3 players. So it can play short for a good long while.

Several places do NL 9-handed. Harrah's. Mirage used to (probably still does...haven't visited them in months). Caesars, I think. Perhaps others.

I would guess that the 6-max table would drop more rake than the 10-max, even if it is $1 lower on the max rake per hand because you should get alot more hands per hour dealt.

It's not nothing, but it's less than online. A lot of live NL is just waiting to hit a big hand when a moron decides to push. 10 handed = 4 more potential morons. Just don't get too crazy with your preflop requirements.
