folded to your SB.... you peel a 22.... what now?
This situation came up in in a $26 tourny on FTP. After the hand I didn't like the way I played it, and started considering other alternatived. I ended up doing some quick calculations, and ended up being rather surprised by the result.
So let's take the following situation: Reads: Villian is unknown/normal Hero = 1400, Villian = 1200 Hero posts SB of 40 Villian posts BB of 80 7 folds Hero...? If you'd like, please vote your opinion in the poll, then post stating what you voted and why. |

I call as I don't like building pots out of position with mediocre hands. Although shoving is profitable in a vacuum I think you should wait for better spots to commit your stack.

The variance of shoving here I think is actually pretty small, as compared to making margainally profitble calls all-in with a flush draw + BDSD on a flop, for example. |

Re: folded to your SB.... you peel a 22.... what now?
I like being the aggressor in meaningfull pots and this isn't meaningfull enough yet. Calling is profitable too as you will be able to pick up the pot a fair amount on the flop/turn. Its too early and the edge is too small for me.

Re: folded to your SB.... you peel a 22.... what now?
This really depends on reads on villain imo...
If he's somewhat weak/tight, I'm usually just raising in this spot... To an overly aggressive bigblind, I'm sometimes just folding, as I do not want to get in a big pot with a marginal holding out of position that early... |

Re: folded to your SB.... you peel a 22.... what now?
I dislike calling. If villain checks, you're going to be out of position against a wide selection of hands. Unless you hit a 2 or the board pairs, you're not going to have much idea where you stand.

Depends ontable history/reads on villain blah blah blah...
I'm calling here hoping to hit a 2, other than that or action from him pre-flop I'm done with it |

Aren't you a bit short stacked to be calling for set value?
