General question about blinds & stacks
Hey everyone,
yesterday I pld a single table live tournament at a club. They charge 10 € entrance. For that you get 2000 in chips. The Blinds start at 25/50 and double up every 10 Minutes. IMO this type of blind increases leave very little room for actual good play. Is this how Single table tourneys are usualy played? And what type of strategy can I realy employ here. I know most players were new to the game, and played realy loose & passive. Two of them were Aggressive(but also stupid, raising like 10 times the BB Preflop and going all in with AA and stuff) I'm very new to tourney NL but my thinking was sth like this: Play tight and wait for some of the loose guys to bust out. Then try to steal blinds & pots as the blinds get big with the tight image I created. It didnt work out. The Blinds ate my stack much faster than I thought and I ended up pushing all in with crap like Q9off. (IMO you cant realy raise like 4 times the BB if you only have 6 BB or so left) I was eliminated in 5th place with 8 players total. So is there anything I can do there? Thx for your oppinions! |

Re: General question about blinds & stacks
The structure sucks.
Your tight aproach early and the blind stealing is fine. [ QUOTE ] IMO you cant realy raise like 4 times the BB if you only have 6 BB or so left [/ QUOTE ] Once you get to 10BB it's push or fold. |

[ QUOTE ] and going all in with AA [/ QUOTE ] If you know he had AA because he was called and there was a showdown, then it seems pretty smart play. Your strategy seems good to me, except perhaps being more aggressive. Pushing with Q9o or worse on a blind steal can be a standard play once the blinds are > 10x your or the blind's stack. edit 2: You didn't mention what the payment structure is. This is very important. The loose/passive players are likely to tighten up when you approach 'the bubble' (one or two players away from the money), and blind stealing is more successful. |

Re: General question about blinds & stacks
About the Payment Structure: I won the thing last week (with a huge portion of luck I now realize). And got 40€. I know the 2nd & 3rd place is payed, but dunno how much.
