[ QUOTE ] money isn't everything; you have to deal with people; not everyone tips as you describe; you're on your feet all day; it's not intellectually stimulating; the hours probably suck. you probably have to dealth drunk people. [/ QUOTE ] Those are all good reasons that I thought of before I made this thread. But plenty of people work shity jobs that they hate every day and dont make near this kind of money. Any girl that is a waiter would prolly make 3x as much money being a cocktail waitress which is sorta the same field. Being on your feet all day does suck but at least you get alot of good exercise. You walk all day and that will keep you in pretty good shape. Also going to college and marrying someone and not working is obv better, but not everyone can do that. As I said before these girls are not all prize pigs. They are ugly, and do not have the option to marry rich people. They are also many times old. I think the main reason is people dont know how much money they make. It's a hard job def. but there is alot harder/shittier jobs out there where you are not making that kind of scratch. [/ QUOTE ] A lot of people get sick varicose veins in a short time doing this kind of thing. Along with that comes really aching feet and lower legs. So it's not really healthy and doesn't feel right to them. Also, you don't really get enough exercise to stay slim by doing things like this. Your body adapts pretty efficiently. If Vegas is anything like some other towns, from what waitresses tell me, you have to buy the hottest jobs. Bartending and cocktail waitressing jobs in hot spots literally require a bribe to get the job, because you can standard pull in hundreds of dollars, often over $300, in cash money a night. I think we were talking about being a bellboy here in OOT once, or maybe it was at a hotel I worked at, I forget. But some of those guys make $100k a year. But they don't get the job without greasing a palm. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This is in nowhere, indiana. I dont even want to think about how much someone in vegas could make where drinks are free. What is a ballpark figure? 300k? [/ QUOTE ] you seriously think a waitress in LV pulls 300k? [/ QUOTE ] I would think 100K easy, wouldn't you. Especially the ones that work at good spots, say the big poker rooms, the sports book at the Mirage, etc. [/ QUOTE ] Poker players can be terrible tippers. They feel the rake or hourly seat charge too much, and most want to stay sober, anyway. At blackjack tables, craps, etc., it would probably be much better. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] only bad side is you work weird hours and always weekends. [/ QUOTE ] ORLY? That's the only bad side? "Hi mom, I dropped out of law school to be a cocktail waitress at Resort's Chicago Casino." "Uh..." "Wait. The only bad side is I have to work weekends." "That's the only bad side?" "The only one." "Nothing else bad at all?" "Nope; perfect except for the hours." "Oh honey I am so proud of you. And your father would be too, God rest his soul. Lemme call your brother and uncle Dave..." "Yay!" [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. The parents are sending their daughter to college so that she can find a good man. How is she supposed to find a good man in a casino among all the degenerates? They will just end up gambooling away her expected nest egg. And I don't want to hear any kind of "independant woman" crap. Even Hiliary Clinton wouldn't be anywhere without attaching herself to a successful man and she is most likely the next leader of the Free World. [/ QUOTE ] She was a law partner pulling down good bucks without Bill. |

I don't deny the MRS degree exists, but when I was in college (albeit a few years back) the women were there to learn, earn a degree and get a good job so they could take care of themselves. NCAces [/ QUOTE ] Yes, there's a very reasonable chunk who go to college to find mr. right. You just have to look in the right college within any university. Engineering? Not so much. Education? Ding Ding Ding!!! [/ QUOTE ] Actually a ton of people studying education want to be teachers. That's always been one of the more popular fields for women who want to have a real job. Try Art History. Or Fashion Design. Insanely hot girls. Even hotter than the ones in Theater, who usually would actually rather work. |

I think male escorts are very well paid, but then you've got to good looking, tall, be able to talk inane crap to establish emotional connection and finally then f the daylight out of women who are ~6
The thread title is just funny though |

A lot of people get sick varicose veins in a short time doing this kind of thing. Along with that comes really aching feet and lower legs. So it's not really healthy and doesn't feel right to them. Also, you don't really get enough exercise to stay slim by doing things like this. Your body adapts pretty efficiently. I think you get enough exercise to stay healthy. You are walking at a fast pace for 8 hours. They make those stocking things that prevent you from getting veins in your legs. All the cocktail waitresses wear them as well as my girlfriends in med school who are on their feet all day for surgery. Blarg, Your def right about fashion design, interior decorating, psychology, can also be added to the list. |

Clark,
"Optimal realistically achievable scenario in Vegas is about $90k, fwiw." If she's hot and street smart, she can get a cocktailing job making more than that in Vegas. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The 500 was for a shift in Bumfuck, Indiana where ppl are not there to drink and spend money. In vegas ppl are there to drink and spend money. [/ QUOTE ] I think a major fault in your assumption is that these things scale linearly or something. If you're tipping $5/$2 drink in Indiana, you're much more likely to tip $5/$0 drink in Vegas than you are to tip $10/$0 drink in Vegas. Think more along the lines of, "Oh man, $2 less per drink!" than "Oh man, I should pay another $2 per drink to even things out!" [/ QUOTE ] No I dont think they are going to get tipped 10 dollars per drink in vegas. I think they are going to say "O, man 2 dollar less per drink. Now I can drink 10x as many beers" which would cause them to make so much more money. |
