Am I missing something or does it not say anywhere that they settled for $6 million?

Settlements are usually for far less than the asking price.

It may not have been for "far less" if the judge had "indicated that Leyser likely would win his claim to the $6 million."

"At a December court hearing, U.S. District Court Judge Roger L. Hunt rejected a motion by Gold's lawyers to lift an injunction set in September on the $6 million still at the tournament host, the Rio casino-hotel, and ordered the frozen funds be moved into an interest-bearing account.

Hunt also indicated Leyser likely would win his claim to the $6 million."

There was a lot of litigation to go to get that $6M. I would guess the settlement was somewhere between $1M and $4M.

The $$ they settled for has not been published as of yet. I doubt it ever will be.
The title of the post is a little miss leading.

Crispin confirmed to me last night that the report is accurate. I have no insight into the numbers, but I'd take the over on a $3.5 million line in a second.

That the judge said that doesn't mean that much about the final outcome. Was certainly what lead to the settlement ... but doesn't mean squat when it comes to getting in front of a jury.

Also, Leyser has to consider attorney fees, and the value of money today v. the value of money in about 3 years. I posted on another post that to get the 6 million you have to be 100% certain you win. I am thinking the same kind of maths that go into a deal at a FT would apply here. If you are sure you can win, you don't do a deal. But, if you think you have an 80% chance you discount the 6 million to account for that.

Whomever said he would the over on 3.5 million, that sounds about right to me. I'd guess about 3 - 4.5 million.
