Re: Explain Bob Dylan to me.
"Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously
He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously And when bringing her name up He speaks of a farewell kiss to me He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall How can I explain? Oh, it's so hard to get on And these visions of Johanna, they kept me up past the dawn" - Visions of Johanna |

[ QUOTE ]
"Inside the museums, infinity goes up on trial, voices echo, this is what salvation must be like after a while, but Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles" [/ QUOTE ] This one is from 'Visions of Johanna' as well. I can't seem to edit the original post. |

Re: Explain Bob Dylan to me.
I'm seeing him on August 24th, when he plays at McCoy stadium in Pawtucket Rhode Island. Can't wait.

Re: Explain Bob Dylan to me.
Tangled Up in Blue is in my top five favorite songs, ever. And, believe it or not, Indigo Girls do an excellent cover of it. But yea, Tangled up in Blue: "we always did feel the same, we just saw from a different point of view." Possibly one of the best, simplest lyrics ever.

Re: Explain Bob Dylan to me.
I agree that Subterranean Homesick Blues could be considered the first rap song. Eminem is not, however, the Dylan of his generation, and I understand that you didn't post that. Eminem is the Jerry Lee Lewis of his generation. (Still not bad). Vanilla Ice is Pat Boone.

Re: Explain Bob Dylan to me.
this is the best I can do to "explain Bob Dylan" to someone who doesn't get him:
"Something is happening, but you don't know what it is, do you, Mr. Jones?" Like anything real and beautiful in art or nature, you either get it or you don't, and the only thing an intellectual explanation will really do is steal the spark. |

Re: Explain Bob Dylan to me.
I love Dylan for his one or two liners.
Yes, I received your letter yesterday (about the time the door knob broke) When you asked how I was doing Was that some kind of joke? But me, Im still on the road Headin for another joint We always did feel the same, We just saw it from a different point of view, Tangled up in blue. Equality, I spoke the word As if a wedding vow. Ah, but I was so much older then, Im younger than that now. Aint it hard when you discover that He really wasnt where its at After he took from you everything he could steal. How does it feel |
