I feel like I'm missing something....I don't understand this at all.

I hate this bet--it doesn't really free up any outs (immediately of course--sure the turn could have hit him then you hit river when you wouldn't have won otherwise) unless button had one of your cards. Furthermore, I find it hard to believe button folds getting over 4-1 often.

Why? You'll probably get to see the turn and river cheap and if you DO hit your gutterball you'd like to have the 3rd player around to pay you off.

If button folds, hero is freerolling on his gutshot. His pair outs may be good as well. This seems like it should be pretty standard to me.

It's pretty impossible for this flop to help the button limper unless he has 99, TT, or 55.

I know why you did this, but it's just not enough of a reason. The odds that BB has a 9 or a 6, a 9 or 6 falls, and BB still doesn't win are much smaller (because of all the contingencies) than the odds that button calls this bet with a PP or a flush draw or something or an 8 (which costs you money, obviously).
