Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
This isn't much of a surprise given the variance in tournaments and the fact that live pros just don't really get variance...I mean, people going pro after playing 6 tournaments and cashing in 3 or whatever Brandi's track record is. I'm sure she's not the only person who has played a dozen tourneys and gone pro. If you had an online player play 100 $20 tournaments and say he wanted to go pro he'd get laughed off of 2p2.
Even with a big win you could easily blow through a million dollars playing the $10k events without a big win considering travel expenses, degeneracy and big leaks (poor cash game play, sports betting, women, drugs). |

[ QUOTE ] 99.99% sure the pro being interviewed is Layne Flack. [/ QUOTE ] Could Layne Flack seriously find midstakes nolimit online tough? im finding this hard to believe. [/ QUOTE ] He's the mark in just about any game he sits in, but I don't think he's married |

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
Lets rule out the possible people
Hellmuth-No Grinder-No Layne Flack-No, i dont think he would be marry Singer-not married, has a gf Jett- doubt it, kids are young, and his wife plays and understands the swings of the game Bartholi and Cassidy- to young and i would hope to manage 3.9 million a little better and even 2 million at 50% has to be a known player but not well known. how about J-Dags??? Radmin, seems likely. but doubt it. then again, it could be all fake. |

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
win in 2006 + recently divorced wife + mid 30s should be all the info you need. unless a lot of pros have little known marriages
if someone wanted to search cardplayer updates for the bustout hand it would verify it. |

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
can't you just find out who pushed all in with a gutshot against top set 2 hands after the dinner break?

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
If we assume that it's not all made up and that the details are accurate, the specifics of the exit hand in the $5000 Mixed should be pretty much all you need.

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
Like others, I have trouble believing that a live pro would say what he did about on line pros, although he's absolutely correct.
Also, wouldn't his backer recognize the description pretty easily? Of course people do dumb stuff all the time. We can only hope this turns into a big train wreck. |

He said his wife and kids left him a few months ago. There is a big difference as the latter may not even be known to a lot of people yet while the former would be a matter of public record. |

He would have been my first guess except he doesn't fit the age and kids range. |
