I'd fold preflop, but otherwise everything is fine.

I'd raise to $1.50 preflop, but otherwise ...

Seriously, completing here with QJo is spewing. Obv tables play differently, but raising to 5BB+ limpers works often enough at 25NL. Normally you get one caller c40% of the time, and he folds to your donk pot sized c-bet bet more than 50% of the time = very very +$EV.

I was not suggesting a 100% line; but if you have 2 or 3 limpers at 25NL and a marginal hand in the SB, the decision should not be to complete, but to raise or fold. IMHO if you are going to play, you must raise, and IME, 5BB + limpers gets a fold from the limpers most of the time.

Gross generalisations and estimates*:

-you essentially only get paid off if you hit two pair or a straight**.

-You make that something in the order of 1 in 30 or so times.

-you're putting 15c in to see the flop

-when you make your straight or two pair,, you need to win 30 * 15 = $4.50 on average

-i doubt if you can do that on average, but i'll defer to you if you think you can

*you can fiddle around with these numbers. they are probably excessively conservative in favour of folding

**i assume that the profit that you make when you hit top pair or trips is somewhat balanced by the times someone beats you with a bigger kicker or other stronger hand. obviously it isn't quite, but being oop helps compensate too.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would NEVER not complete in the small blind with limpers with QJ or any other reasonable hand. I do like raising and betting the flop with QJo better though.

Agree with the first part but disagree with the second at low stakes. Obviously table/opponent dependent as well, but at 25 and 50nl your raise will usually be called in two places and often in 3 or 4, pretty bad situation IMO.

Ignoring that you can pick up the pot by betting out with basically any piece of the board, you're still off on the numbers.

He's putting in .15 while getting 7.33:1. So he needs to win $3.40 on average. A much easier to hit number.

'cause if the skill differential between you and the other players is big enough for QJo to be profitable, you're not playing 25nl.
