I would play Doyle in a heads up cash game. I would just play very agressive and Doyle's call station style would get dominated.

I think winning a 10 person WSOP - a deep-stacked STT with the 10 toughest players in the world - would be a helluva lot harder than winning the WSOP today.

OP's question is both an interesting question and a stupid question.

Yes, the WSOP ME when Doyle won it was deep money and very strong pros.

Doyle has been by reputation one of the strongest players in the world for the last 40 years. You can't consistently beat the Big Game or any high stakes cash games without being a strong player.

Doyle plays a few of the highest buyin tournaments and does extremely well in them. He didn't get his WSOP bracelets by winning a bunch of $2K events.

Now many of the big name pros who have been on TV or won the ME recently are really donks who got lucky, wealthy amateurs, semipros, or grinder-type pros. They are much weaker than typical high stakes regulars, much less Brunson.

I would love to play Doyle in a heads up cash game. I would just play very agressive and Doyle's call station style would get dominated.

Uhh, you know Doyle is still active, right? Just head down to Bobby's room and put your money where your mouth is at.

If you need money, just arrange to get staked. You should have no trouble drumming up the cash with your breathtaking insight into poker theory.

He didn't even play that bad on the ME coverage this year. It was just Norman Chad being an idiot and saying he should bet or raise in retarded spots like leading into 3 players with TPNK because he's supposed to be "aggressive."
