Default Chicago - Where are you playing now?

I have been to the Four Winds twice now, one last weekend when travelling from Kalamazoo to Chicago (where I live) and once just for an evening and then returning home. I do like the place a lot and poker has been very nice to me over there.

I'm just wondering what the thoughts are from others in the Chicagoland area on where they will choose to play cards. Four Winds is about 45 minutes further east than Majestic/Resorts. Will a lot of Chicago players take the extra time to go out to New Buffalo. Most of the people that I have talked at Four Winds are from Michigan/Indiana with a few Chicagoans in the mix.

If you are from Chicago what are your plans? Worth the trip or are you sticking to Northwest Indiana? The Four Winds card room seems to be a little less busy that the Majestic Star.

Side note - My biggest complaint is that Four Winds tries to keep as many tables as possible open even if both are running at 5 players each. On top of that, if your game does bust (which we only did when we dropped to three players) you don't get to take your chips with you. Playing NL, you can only buy back for the max of the table. Example, you start you night buying in for the full amount, $200 in this case, and proceed to spend a few hours building up your stack nicely to 5x the buy-in. Your table busts and you move to a new table. The e-tables only let you buy in for $200 once more and you pocket the other $800. I hate this rule.

I'm a limit player, who is making no money in Four Winds room, because it is a 3/6 limit room, so far. But, that's where I'm playing, until Harrah's (Horseshoe) opens it's room next year. I'm not spending a dime at the dilapidated existing "boats", until they spend money on physical improvements to the properties. The very brand name boats in NW Indiana have very nice casinos in other states and junk in NW Indiana. It's actually, rather insulting to customers who know better.

The items you mention in your "Side note" are an ominous sign of a badly operated room. I have already been "victimized" by my table not being "protected", when they opened a second 3/6. They even ASKED, if anyone wanted to move to the "new" game, because it was shorthanded. What?!
I don't play no limit, but what you mentioned about moving and the original buy-in rule, is a glitch, if you MUST move. Obviously, that should be changed.
World's First Electronic (computerized) Poker room, and they have installed the cheapest video sigh-in (the list)board (script is fuzzy !!), which has been inoperable since day one. It is "on". It doesn't work. Another sign of a badly operated room.

I'm giving online poker a nice long break, I got in another 20k hands and I know it will help my live play.

I mostly play at majestic 2 (old trump) also there's hollywood that has limit, but i don't play that even though it's 15 minutes from my house.

Harrah's is supposd to have nlhe on thursday in romeoville.

besides that, i'm sticking with majestic 2 and they just wen t to rake instead of 7 per half hour so, i'm down.

I think you are talking about Empress in Joliet. Empress has $500 max NLHE with 2-5 blinds Sun-Wed and will try to run games other days if they can get enough players. The Chicago area charitable games have no limit games going with 3-5 events weekly. For more info www.cardclubs.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=165

It's actually not a rule at Four Winds, and something the staff can change with the wave of a a wand on their magic tablet when they move you. I think they just don't know any better.

I had a real issue with the same moving of stacks issue as the OP after an incident that affected me last week. I wanted to take my full stack with me and it will only let you buy in when you use your card for the max of 200. They changed something on their majik tablet and I was able to pull my original stack out of my card.

I addressed this with Glen the manager and he said they would only allow someone to go back to original buy in if they moved them. Which still doesn't make a lot of sense to me. A player would not be allowed to change tables of his own accord and rebuy for original amount without a one hour break.

I got the sense, however, that the staff isn't really aware of what a significant issue this is. I get the impression they are great with people and electronics, but poker noobs. I think pocketing your profit could be easily perpetrated, and am going to hound them about this like a fat man on a pizza. I wish everyone that plays there would do the same

"Glenn" knows EXACTLY, the aspects of the issue at hand. He came from Greektown in Detroit. It's not about "poker noobs". It is a question of how obstinate the joint will be in the face of common sense. (There have always been a lot of "issues" / player gripes at Greektown.)
