Because it's not really dangerous, almost no funding has ever been put into trying to cure it.

Just like impotence and hair loss, right?

[/ QUOTE ]

I realize this, I'm just citing something I had read online when I was wondering why very little medical innovations had been made for acne.

Also though, realize that for a large majority of the population, acne clears up after a few years. Impotence and hair loss are problems that people will deal with for their entire lives once it happens.

Is there money to be made in it still? Of course. But as of today, there's nothing that good out for it.

Why the hell haven't you been to a dermatologist? That's just stupid. In fact, it makes such little sense that it indicates that you have much deeper issues - like not wanting to take responsibility for anything. Acne was/is the easy way out - you can whine and blame it your whole life.

Man up and do something about it, don't be a little whiny bitch.

PS that image is AWESOME!

For all of those who just said "go to a dermatologist", you should realize that there is no real cure for acne.

Because it's not really dangerous, almost no funding has ever been put into trying to cure it.

Almost nothing works. The only effective drug, accutane, as some have mentioned has some -severe- side effects. In addition, many people still have relapses.

I've been to at least 3 different dermatologists, and 2 flat out refused to prescribe it for me because of this. It even requires monthly blood tests to make sure your liver is functioning properly. Other side effects include hair loss, internal bleeding, and other much more serious problems.

Any comments about cleaning your face, proactiv, etc don't realize that if you have it bad, those things do almost nothing.

[/ QUOTE ]

I took Accutane back in the early 90s and have no recollection of doing blood tests or anything that serious being associated with it. Maybe they know stuff about it now that they didn't then.

At any rate, I had horrendous, pizza-face, black plague style acne for about five years, tried all the other remedies like Retin-A, etc., and Accutane totally cleared me up in about two months. It is the only acne treatment I'm aware of that really works, and I would recommend it to OP despite the side-effects, since it sounds like his quality of life is really suffering.

I find it sad how many peoples lives spiral into the shitter over things that could be fixed so easily. Do they just not realize that there are solutions or are they just afraid to find them?

OP, like everyone else has said, go to a dermotologist. And like Bison said, get some therapy, for the depression you have now, and for the bitterness you are gunna have towards yourself when 6 months from now your acne is gone and you hate yourself for not having gone to the doctor 7 years ago.
