Default Re: Disney Stock for my Kids

When you open the accounts for them you should put the $500 into something more sensible than one stock...

If you are thinking sensibly why buy them toys? They just break them, lose them, give them away or get tired of playing with them. Same for designer jeans, not sensible. Buying Disney stock to hold for 15 years seems pretty sensible to me.

what? That analogy doesn't make sense.

I was just suggesting that since his mom is going to be buying a lot of Disney no matter what, why not get some diversification in with his share? Then he will have both the novelty of Disney for the kids when they are old enough to understand what a stock is and a more reasonable portfolio for them.
