If you ask me whether to trade Milledge or Gomez, it would be Milledge no contest. That guy is going to be a headache.

[/ QUOTE ]

Fair enough. I'm just higher on Milledge than Gomez from a pure production standpoint. It's easy for me to do that obviously since I don't have to deal with either of them on a day-to-day basis.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yea, I don't see Gomez ever developing into anything besides a defensive replacement, whereas Milledge is a potential 900 OPS guy.

Not buying it. Did this guy see our #5 starters last year? LIMA TIME!!!!! (And Soler, Dave Willimas, and I can't even remember who else)

[/ QUOTE ]

While Lima, Soler, Williams, Gonzalez, Zambrano all stunk. We did get a pretty big contribution from Maine, Bannister and a few good starts from Perez in 2006, didn't we? I guess the question is how many of those starts from Maine were as the #5 or the #4?

Having a solid option at the #5 spot in the rotation would have improved this team and maybe not burned out our pen. I mean Pelfrey, Lawrence, Vargas, Humber, CHP all averaged less than 5 IP per each of their starts. That's bad.

Edit: Actually Pelfrey averaged 5.1 per start.

Interesting article about the 5th [pitcher, I never understood why they got rid of Bannister. He pitched well at the beginning of last year before he got hurt. As far as our 5th starter, Sosa had a good run for awhile before the rest of the league caught to him.

yea, not surprisingly, sosa balanced out from the great stretch he had with the braves at the beginning of his career...still, this guy is worth keeping around for long-relief and spot starts...

is it just me or did reyes fall off the map when Castillo came on board??

[/ QUOTE ]

A lot of people have come forward and reported that Castillo had a negative influence on Jose Reyes.

Still reeling from the collapse to contribute this post other than Willie Randolph needs to have complete control.

I did not listen to the Mike and Mad Dog interview today with Willie yet.

According to several sources, Willie had his hands tied when it came to discipling his own players.

When Willie first arrived he ran a tight ship, it seems things slipped away.

This team needs an overhall. I would welcome the team to trade Milledge or Beltran for a quality pitcher.

I never liked Tom Glavine and felt he came to the Mets to get his 300th win. I do not want him back because he did nothing for the Mets to help the Mets win.

wow, interesting gossip that castillo was a negative influence on reyes, he's expendable adn i wouldn't mind seeing a prospect take his place (or at least teach gotay how to play defense)

it would take a miracle, i.e., santana, to get the mets to move beltran and even that is unfeasible as the twins wouldn't want that contract...also, heck, i'd like to see beltran stick around, he's arguably the most valuable player on the team

I heard the interview earlier today. I didn't like how he said he had little to no control over Reyes and Miledge and their "homerun dance" [censored]. He's like well if you don't let the players be themselves then the fans will be all over you too. [censored] that [censored]. They need to mature. He needs to run a tighter ship.
