So You Think You Can Dance (wagering)/Your help is needed....

Can this be profitable? I think the American public is even more ignorant of dancing than they are of singing. I can only assume this makes personalities even more important than on AI. My girlfriend is a huge dance-nut so I watched just about all of last season, and Benji wasn't nearly as good as Travis or Allison (I think that was her... white, curly-haired lyrical dancer). I'm shooting off an e-mail though. If I'm going to have to watch this anyway, I'd rather do it with a few dollars on the line and shooting the [censored] with you degens.

ETA: What about any other sites? Anyone heard anything?

stuartfl - welcome to the forum! Yes, that woman drives me nuts too. And I cannot imagine her ever being a great dancer either! Thank goodness for DVR I guess!

Suzy - yes, you have apparently; and yes, if they offer lines we'll be wagering on it. I recall last year having a pretty good idea of who would be around for the final 4 or 5 and being correct. You get the feel for who is likeable, likely to have a fanbase, who is about to go home, etc. from the skills/knowledge you develop from AI wagering. Very similar animal here, IMO.

Just FYI

SYTYCD is a little different than Idol in how they eliminate people. America doesn't decide who goes home, they just decide the bottom 3, then from those 3 the judges decide who goes home. Makes things a little harder to predict. Or perhaps more challenging, because you'll have to think who will go home based on various 3 contestant permutations. Also, is there something that tracks the voting like DialIdol?

Good post. I'm not sure about the DI equivalent here, but I doubt it.

I like the format where the judges decide the worst of the bottom three. I think you can get a feel for who they are annoyed with from the commentary on the (previous) shows, and I find that to be more predictable/reliable than the AI method of analysis.
