Yes, when anyone says they would raise this river, calling a 3bet is implied.

I agree with raising this river.

I am definitely a 'go for the overcall' kind of guy, but given the board I think it's pretty likely SB was on flush or straight draw and won't overcall.

40/10/1's can find folds on the river. 60/20's who limped the whole way could have Aces beat, but would have raised on the turn 90+% of the time.

The Donk really will be what it appears to be most of the time: a King. And if he bet/folds well more power to him but I just don't see it often enough to let it stop me in this particular case.

I think the 'Overcaller' crowd are forgetting that your opponents don't know you have AA.

You're usually beat, but some donkeys will bet into you with little here or just Top Pair. I wouldn't raise it generally unless I had a good read that the donkey always donks the river with no more than top pair. Usually I don't have that good of a read on any one player.

PS: As some others said, going for the overcall will often get you just as much when you're ahead and often more since they both might fold to a raise. This also prevents you from losing an extra bet the times you get re-raised. I assume you would fold to a re-raise and not pay 2 extra.

I am with the raise the river crowd. It looks like UTG has a K, and SB missed his draw. Going for an overcall in this spot seems weak.

ilovepoker929,

why are you so stubborn?

raising is clearly the correct play. there is no doubt in my mind. just raise, make money, and move on to the next hand

and, i agree when you say, "trust me when I tell you, you are not a 2-1 favorite here"

we're like a 9-1 favorite.

[/ QUOTE ]

quoted for re-emphasis since this thread got bumped. Rock on, MD

I would raise, too.
If we assume we are beat 1 out of 10 times and say sb will always fold for a raise and overcall 50% of the time the EV
for raising is : 90%*10 + 10%*-3 = 8.7
and overcalling: 90%*9.5 + 10%*-1 = 8.45

therefore raise.
