Default depositing 10k

i've been playing poker live and keeping the money earned in a safe at my house. i would like to make a 10k cash deposit with my bank to an account that has around 15k in it now. i don't have a regular job and don't make regular deposits. will i run into any problems if i walk into the bank with 10k to deposit?

Pay your taxes...other than that I think you'll be fine. The bank doesn't know/care that you don't have a job.

9k first. 1k later. try not to make 10k+ transactions.

My girlfriend just made a deposit over the amount you are considering into an account she has less than a grand in, to which I am not sure she made any deposits since opening it around a month ago.

As far as I heard, the bankers didn't bat an eye.

This may be important, but I believe her deposit was made via bank check.

I've heard that structuring your deposits to not set off any flags is illegal. As long as OP is being honest about everything else (aka paying taxes) setting off a flag shouldn't be a big deal. No reason to do something illegal for no reason.

Bank software flags various cash transactions that look to skirt the $10K CTR requirement. Just deposit it, if you are paying taxes and just make the deposit and don't worry about it, it's no big deal.

probably the worst idea in this thread, though if you only do it once it won't raise any flags

structuring is a big no-no and a big hassle if you get flagged

You understand that the IRS tracks ANY interest you make off your accounts. I pulled an IRS earnings report on a guy yesterday and it listed his $4 of interest he made for the year. He best report that.

I hope geo was trying to level us and was intentionally trying to get the OP in trouble for structuring. Otherwise geo you are a dumbass.

OP like others said if you are paying taxes on that money then deposit it all at once. If you are not paying taxes on that money than you will not want to be making big thousand dollar deposits while you are unemployeed for tax purposes.

Like the slogan is on here, "just pay your taxes."
