Flop: (t1125) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, Button checks.

Turn: (t1125) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, Button checks.

River: (t1125) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, Button bets t800, Hero raises to t2400

Is this idea ever profitable (in a vacuum)?
Would you use it

a) against idiots
b) against thinking idiots
c) no, i wouldnt.

in general: thin value against a pretty transparent range, since this should be always a confusing spot.

in this case: QT,JT,9T maybe even 99 - who knows.

I tried this some times, it never worked. but I still think there is EV. Am i wrong?

c) I think your hand is fairly transparent with this play. You are never going to check raise the river with an ace. I do wonder if a pair of eights might call you though because it looks so strange but I don't think it has +EV. I'd call on the river.

The and is DEFINITELY not transparent. Would never imagine someone actually had 2nd pair if they did this! That doesn't mean it's good though.
