Default Casino AZ now runs live single table SNGs!

On Tuesday/Wednesday only. Signups for the following tournaments. Tourneys run when they've got 10 on the list.

$50+$10
$100+$15
$200+$20
$300+$30
$500+$50

Payouts 50%/30%/20%. 2000 tournament chips. 12 minute rounds.

Round/Blinds
1 25/50
2 50/100
3 100/200
4 150/300
5 200/400
6 300/600
7 500/1000
8 700/1500

My first $115 only went to level 5 as my opponents were so convinced of my awesomeness they just went allin against each other repeatedly until I was heads up with 3500 chips vs. the chip leaders 16,500. Despite his enormous disadvantage to Senor Awesomeness, he luckboxed to victory in 3 hard fought hands.

Tell your friends. Tell the floor thank you and to please run them every day.

Did you happen to notice what effect these things had on the live games?
It was awful for the live action, at one point on Tuesday night, there were Sit sit-n-gos in action at one time at various buy-in limits. Same thing on Days, Wednesday.

As great as you think these are from your perspective, these make no sense for the house. I expect that these sit-n go's will get throttled down to a minimum if not eliminated.

I was there Wed night, and was surprised they were going. After I heard three different dollar amounts go, I realized there wasn't some totally secret tourney they were running sattys to, but were in fact running these for cash.

I was wondering what led them to do this, did the players push for this, did they think it would be easy to get them going with tourney players there for the evening tourney, or has live action games really slowed them down. I do know it had 0 effect on our 20/40 game, so it doesn't bother me.

I'm not sure what to think of the sng's. On the one hand it's good that CAZ is offering its customers choices. It also means that management is not just sitting on it's heels but is looking to be innovative. OTOH, I've noticed that the card room is not as full as it used to be. Once upon a time every seat would be filled for Sunday's football promotion a couple of hours before the games. Now there are empty tables. The Tues and Wed tourneys used to sell out by 5pm or so. Now there are seats available almost up to the 7pm start. All this while metro-Phoenix's population increases. This has me concerned that management knows there is a slowdown in traffic and is offering sng's to attract/keep the players interested. This has me concerned.

On the other, other hand: Maybe I'm just screwy. I've mentioned to other players that it looks like business has slowed down and they tell me I'm nuts. So there is always that to take into consideration.

I also believe business has slowed, but we are just getting into the winter season. Not all snow birds are out here yet, and football is less than a quarter through their season. Be patient my friend, I haven't busted everyone yet.

Although I often play $100 + $10 + $3 SNGs (the $3 buys an extra chip which in effect becomes the dealer/staff tip pool) at Hawaiian Gardens my guess is management will eventually discontinue them. They've slowed down a bit and remain a very inefficient use of assets. By this I mean there is a fair amount of waiting (by players and staff) for games to get started and when going the dealer is essentially dealing to a short table on average. Meanwhile the rest of the casino is usually running at high capacity.

They pay only two places on a nine handed table ($575 and $325). Most of the time the players agree to cut in third and make the payout $500/$300/$100. I like paying three places but hate this distribution (but usually agree anyway as long as the deal is made at the beginning). I'd like to see them add $10 to the buyin and pay $500/$295/$195 which would make it close to the online percentages.

The rake is much better than their regular tournies so this is a boon for SNG players and tourney players in general. Not sure how great it is for the house, essentially with exception of the cheapest SNG they give $50 to the dealer, $5 to the cage (why? dunno), and the house keeps the rest. My guess is $95-$345 rake for the use of a table for one hour is okay if they can run games back to back. I also expect them to increase the rake if they can build up the interest. For the dealer it's a good deal, because they can also get tipped by the winners.

My guess is that if they can't build enough interest to keep the SNGs going almost continuously, they'll stop doing it. If the games go continiously there will be less players bouncing back and forth to the cash games, and it will attract new players, so it will be a positive for everyone. But if the games continue to run like the first two days (mostly $60s, every two hours or so), it won't be and they'll end soon.

Do you really think so when you factor in the time it takes to run a SNG versus a regular tournament?

Also just how high are the fees in the regular tournaments at CA?

Their normal daily tourney is $45+$20. I think the nightly tourney is $100+$30. So time aside, more of your money is in the prize pool.

And after further thought, CasinoAZ might be the perfect place for SNGs to succeed. Since NL isn't allowed, there is large unmet demand for any kind of no limit games.

SNG =$55 in revenue over the course of 1.5-2 hours for the house.
Same players would be in a live raked game if the SNG wasn't going.
Simple math, from a revenue stand point they way -EV.
These things do not draw players that would normally be in the casino, they simply take players out of live play.
