I doubt any of the higher end places would want this. The ratio of problems caused by the 18-21 yr olds vs. the revenue they bring in wouldn't be worth it.

I don't think they stop serving alcohol just because it 18+ rather than 21+. I would call casinos like morongo in cali and ask whether they serve alcohol in the poker room. I do agree that 18 yo players have less disposable income.

the only reference I have to add is that Vegas casinos which encourage family participation do not serve alcohol in the non-gaming areas unless its enclosed in a restaurant/bar section. This is anecdotal of course, I don't have law evidence to back this up.

OP - this sounds like a ridiculous paper to me the way you explained it, however a paper on the financial ramifications of changing the legal gambling age might be very interesting. If you want research I suggest calling the GCB which will usually provide excellent researched answers for consumers who call with legitimate questions - http://gaming.nv.gov/.

Hi, who do you suggest I call to get the information on the finacncial ramifications of changing the legal gambling age. You gave me the site, but is there a specific division that does the surveys or should I just call one on taxes? Any help is appreciated. For the people who think this paper will be weak there are a few reasons I'm using in my paper why this is justified.
-18 your an adult. Taxed and tried like one. Unable to gamble like one
-Learn your way around a casino alcohol free. -Kind of weak/filler
-Safety, if you can't gamble legally you can illegally. Lots of games are being robbed around where I live.
-People seem to think this will cause more pathological gamblers. Not true.
-Found articles and surveys that say college students are just as responsible as adults when it comes to gambling.

if I was a professor grading Paper briefs I would give you a D for yours. Your concept is weak and full of holes, this is a gambling website, I gamble, and I don't like your arguments for 18+ gambling. As I stated previous an analysis of 18+ regions (such as Indian casinos) vs 21+ casionos (such as Vegas) would be interesting, but your argument as presented is flimsy at best.

PS: Asking questions when you can call GCC yourself to get the answers is lame, 2+2 isn't google ya know

Paper seems a combination of arguments
1) similar to lowering the drinking age to 18 and
2) for legalizing gambling period

As to your original question, "does LV want it?", ask yourself this question. If the corporations that run the casinos wanted a change, would there be some mention of it in the press, etc? A bill introduced into the Nevada Legislature?

From their point of view, would 18-20 year olds add that much to their business? Can you think of any negatives for MGM of having a 19 year old blowing a ton at the blackjack table?

I hear they're just as responsible at managing their credit card debt, too.

I'm writing a paper on all casinos dropping the gambling age to 18. Does vegas want this?

[/ QUOTE ]

In Seattle 18 year olds can play poker at casinos in areas where alcoholic beverages are also being consumed and it seems to work out fine. Waitresses check ID's and you also have dealers who can watch and make sure there are no underage people geting drinks bought for them. In a larger Vegas Casino this would obviously be harder to enforce but im sure the casinos would find a way if it meant more money for them.

A more accurate statement is that in Seattle 18 year olds can play in some cardrooms where alcoholic beverages are served. Any of the 'casinos' (read tribal) are 21+ as are a high percentage of the cardrooms. As for the dealers monitoring for underage alcohol consumption, they are licensed/regulated by the state gambling commission, not the liqour control board.
