Strangely enough, I would probably like him a lot more if he did this, and would become a quasi-Rockies fan.

I tend to agree with the poster (too far back sorry) who said that Boras must know something we don't wrt some team's interest, because, regardless or whether he wants to stay with the Yankees or not, to remove the one team that has no budgetary restraints from the equation seems unthinkable. At least if generating a bigger contract is the goal.

So the question is which team this might be, which is hard for me to figure because I doubt anyone is interested in being the Rangers of the next decade.

Red Sox: I think he's a bad fit for the Red Sox because of chemistry problems (having a huge, delicate ego on a team with already fairly good sized egos but with good chemistry currently), plus Boston is already facing the challenge of how to keep as much of their young talent as they can without a huge contract to cripple them.

Cubs: The Cubs/Pinella angle is interesting, although I don't think Pinella's fatherly influence is as much of a factor as people like to think--Arod's not a teenager anymore. However, Cub fans are more forgiving than NY/Boston/Philly fans and thus a better fit that way.

Not much info to go on with other teams...

The Rockies don't need A-Rod to win the World Series -- they can hit .220 as a team as well without him as with him. They could have used Johan Santana, perhaps...

A-Rod is a self-centered toxic presence on a team that drains resources better spent elsewhere. He is a fantastic talent, and may go down as the greatest hitter in history, but it speaks volumes that no matter where he plays, on teams that actually have a lot of talent besides himself, that team does not win a World Series.

It's a good thing there are only a small number of teams that can afford A-Rod, because that narrows down the list of clubs subject to the dysfuncionality of his presence.

I like the back cover a lot. I don't think I've seen that picture before.

Arod FORCED Gammons to mention it on the WS coverage at gunpoint. Thats why Gammons was so upset about it.

Ernie Banks wasn't as self-centered as A-Rod. He also didn't take up 20-35% of a team's payroll. Obv, one person doesn't win a World Series. But one person can be a part of why a team doesn't win one, and I'm not even talking about a subpar OPS in postseason play.

What has A-Rod actually done besides pile up individual stats and piles of money?
