Default Taboo topics of conversation.

At my annual pig roast a few weeks ago, this topic struck me as I was involved in and listening to several conversations throughout the course of the day and evening. A number of people were involved in heated debate, over seemingly innocuous topics, but they were very passionate about the topic. These were not the typical "argument" topics like race, sex, religion, gender, politics, sports, national origin, or other known fire starters, but people were just as worked up, or even more so. Three of the topics that caused rage, pain and extreme amounts of ire were as follows:

1. Bill Hicks was/is not funny, he's just glorified because he's dead.
2. Chicken wings are disgusting.
3. Vegans are dishonest/hypocrites.

What other topics of conversation, excluding race, sex, religion, gender, politics, sports, national origin, or other known fire starters, can a person bring up in normal mixed company that will cause such a passionate response from one side or another?

This is why it is a heated debate. This highly depends on the criteria. Are we saying fastest cleanest licks? Groundbreaking sound? Best overall solo? Most musical?

A blues musician is going to have a much different answer than a jazz musician which is going to be different from a metal head.

I think the dead people thing is a good one, like when Princess Diana died and people acted like she was really an important historical figure afterward, I mean she made A&E's top 100 most significant people of the MILLENIUM - like 30 something, how freaking rediculous is that, god im getting riled up just thinking about it.

This one has come up before. If there are women involved in a Princess Diana conversation, she's one of the most important people in the history of the world.
