Default Octagon Shaped Weight Plates

What genius invented these?

I had the honor to workout at a 24 hour fitness the other day and it was definatly the worst gym setup i've ever seen.

The entire floor wall to wall was made of uneven sport court squares. Basically totally unsafe for any kind of standing lifting. Then there were the octagon shaped plates which brings me to my question.

Has anyone ever lifted with them and is there anyway to deadlift with these things without them rolling all over the place?

Yeah, they are disgusting and so so so retarded.

I guess I've finally got my deadlift form sorted so that I can pick up the octagon plates and set them down again flat, but it definitely makes me more prone to injury and is just generally very annoying.

I did deads with them once and busted my shins and then did them the next week but would sort of jump back as soon as I let the weight drop. Ive never used them again after those 2 times.
