Default 1/2 live bottom set deep vs large raise

Raising villian is pretty wild, but not reckless and I haven't seen him bet big in the two hours we've been playing. Other live player is new.

Hero and villian have ~$350, MP2 has $65

Hero has 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG

Hero calls, 3 players call (Villian in MP3), blinds call/check.

Flop ($12) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

checked to Hero, who bets $10, MP2 calls, Villian raises to $55, folded to hero, hero ????

I'm not worried about MP2's small stack, but it worries me that Villian has become so aggressive, and we're close to 200BB deep.

Now:
(a) I've got a set, and I don't want to see monsters in my closet, but
(b) he's got position
(c) we're deep, and if we get all in I'm probably in bad

He's wild, but J4, J3 are not in his holdings. Not sure if he raises with AJ, KJ, QJ.

Play?

Villain has 44 or you win. Call, c/c, shove and call, c/r are both ok.

Call and crai the turn? The only hand you're worried about here is 44 and if he has that, c'est la vie. I don't see how you avoid it though.

oh wow this is live. I lean towards call c/r turn or 3bet flop now.

lol this is live, villain's range is huge here. Any J, 43, 65, 25, hell if he's wild he could have 66-88, or J4 or J3 here too.

call and c/r the turn. Or 3-bet. Just don't fold.

The fact that you posted this leads me to believe that he had 44, though.

I’ll lean towards check-calling and check-raising on the turn. I don’t put him on a set, even a two pair because of the size of raise. I would put him on a 5-6 or a top pair. He was probably semi-bluffing.
