Default LA and surrounding ares

after spending a week plus in vegas i decided i do not want to live there. that leaves LA as the next stop on my look for a home tour. i choose LA because of the Commerce and its reputation for good 100/200 games. here is what i need from you fine LA area 2+2ers:

areas i should look to rent within a half hours (non rush hour) drive of the Commerce. please consider economical considerations (or at least mention them) when responding. i can afford to rent a nice place in a nice area, but am always looking to be thrifty!

i should be in LA for a week or so, so i can look at different areas of the region. if any of you want to buy me dinner and hang out, feel free to offer.

also, if any of you want to line up a hot date for me next month, please feel free!

Los Feliz is where I'd probably live if I lived in LA and wanted to be in the vicinity of the Commerce.

West Hollywood, or Silverlake. Maybe even Pasadena.

While I don't think of Los Feliz as being in "the vicinity" of Commerce, I also personally wouldn't consider living in the places that ARE really close. I'm sure there are some reasonable places to live in Downey or something, but I'm a suburban yuppy and doubt I could handle it.

Other areas to consider would be Hollywood, Silverlake and Echo Park. Depending on traffic it could definitely take longer than a half hour to the casino, but that's going to be true almost no mattere where you live.

Just for the sake of measurements:

I used to live on the west edge of Hollywood, and could regularly get to Commerce in about 22 minutes. I usually went at 9pm or so.

Depends. Most places are two family homes, but there always seem to be a fair amount of apartment buildings whereever you are. All of the neighborhoods mentioned above have both.

Commerce is in a [censored] area, I would recommend getting a loft in the west hollywood area, my friend has a gigantic industrial apt with a roommate for 2400/moth. Its huge and really kickass for parties.
